In 1997, I trained for and completed Boston-Montreal-Boston, a 750 mile timed bike ride, to be completed in 90 hours. Before BMB, my longest ride had been a double century. I thought other people might be interested in what I learned.

Other Long Distance Cycling Links

  • Adventure Racing: The Ultimate Guide: This practical book offers a wealth of information on night-time training, how to prevent injury and illness, as well as eating and hydrating.

  • A randonneur is someone who does long distance cycling. While the rides have checkpoints with food and, if necessary, a place to sleep, riders are mostly self supported. BMB is a randonneur ride.

  • The California Triple Crown: Do 3 doubles in California and get a nifty jersey

  • The Davis, California Bike Club holds brevets (qualifiers) of 200K, 300K, 400K and 600K every year.
